InsulHeat Radiant Heat Panels in Garages

InsulHeat can be employed over new or existing concrete slabs in garages. InsulHeat is applied to the floor, PERT and aluminum trim installed, cement board glued to the surface. Any number of widely available epoxy coatings can then be applied to protect the floor from automotive solvents, oils and water penetration.

Design and Installation Considerations

• In cold climates, the proper concentration of propylene glycol antifreeze must be used in the PERT tubing to avoid accidently freezing the floor, particularly near the juncture of the garage door.
• A band of insulation at least 8” wide should be used at the juncture of the slab and the garage door to avoid freezing in cold climates.
• A rubber or cement transition guard should be installed at the garage door edge of the slab to avoid damaging the assembly at the entry edge.
• If an extremely heavy point load conditions, like heavy duty shelves, will be employed the legs should carry the load directly to the cement floor.
